SM Mondays: serial Tv drama

It was raining, I was bored, the chorus was catchy and I had 500 yen to spare.
That's all the rationale behind the purchase of serial tv drama single, "Maebure" (prelude, sign) in HMV two years ago. Very indie it was, both the cheap cd envelope and the generic guitar song composition. But the melody was nice, and the boys' voices were not terrible so I gave it a try. The lyrics proved pleasant, talking about waking up after a long sleep only to discover that it's not only already noon, but the winter is long gone. The hibernation is probably a metaphor for something but it's so much better to just take the text as a story of someone who likes to sleep very, very long. So true, so powerful.

The song had been hidden well in my random playlist and hearing "Meabure" today took me by surprise (it always does because the first seconds (0:30) remind me of CSI opening so much). But the song is still cool. And apparently the boys are doing well for themselves, with their first major CD released in July. With a plastic case and a booklet, I presume.

Nothing fancy, Japanese boys sing and play guitars. J-music the genre, aka what is good and wrong with Japanese tunes today.
Perfect for the weekly Simple Music column, continued by popular request.
